IMPACT STORY: SPRING BRANCH ISD
The Spring Branch school district in Houston has been involved with IT’S TIME TEXAS since the beginning. Educators and district representatives have attended the Summit each year, and their whole community steps up to the Community Challenge. When we introduced the Teach Healthier Mobile App to members of the Spring Branch community, they immediately had a wealth of ideas to integrate the app into their after school programming, classroom lessons, physical education curricula, and their School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), which has been extremely effective.
It takes school districts like Spring Branch, united on all levels, to create a culture change and transform the state of Texas. It also takes allies like Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, whose contributions have made the Teach Healthier Mobile App possible. Just like Spring Branch ISD, Blue has been with us since the very beginning, and their insight, generosity, and strong commitment to building a healthier Texas are behind all of our programs, including Teach Healthier!
“What IT’S TIME means for me is an opportunity to connect with other health professionals, sharing with them what we’re doing. We’re developing the next generation of leaders, and there’s so much that’s going to be unlocked with this app.”
-Samuel Karns, Advanced Movers Coordinator, Spring Branch ISD
