Introducing the Community Challenge App

As the pandemic continues to affect the way we all go about our daily lives, we, at It’s Time Texas, wanted to ensure you could participate safely and easily in the 2021 Community Challenge. We are excited to announce our brand new Community Challenge App! The Community Challenge App enables you to participate at your comfort level, and offers a variety of ways to stay connected throughout the Community Challenge.

Here’s 10 Tips to get you started on the Community Challenge App:

1. Register before downloading

Before you get started on the app, you need to register online for the Community Challenge at https://ittcommunitychallenge.com/registration/. You can select the Standard or Gear Package registration options. After you register, you will receive an email with instructions on how to download the app. The app is available to download on both Android and iOS. Additionally, you will only be able to compete through the app this year, so make sure to download as soon as you get the email. Once you download the app, sign in with the email you used to register for the Community Challenge. During your first log-in, you will be asked to create a password for your app account. You will use this to log in to the app the rest of the Community Challenge.

2. The camera button is your best friend

To report a healthy activity, look for a camera icon. There’s one on the top left corner of the home screen and the center of the menu at the bottom of the home screen, too. When you click the camera, you will be prompted to take or share a photo of your healthy activity. Photos are required this year to report healthy activities. But you have the option to share it privately or with the rest of the Community Challenge community. Each healthy activity reported earns you 100 points. You can report up to 10 healthy activities a day!

3. Track the leaderboard

That’s right, you can check in on who’s leading anytime you want. If you want to track your team, community, school, or employer’s progress, click on Challenges on the menu at the bottom of the home screen. You will also find the leaderboard for the Mini-Challenges there. (More on those later.) Make sure you select the 2021 Challenge, and then you will be able to scour whatever leaderboard you choose!

4. Find socially distant activities

Use the Discover feature to find virtual events and activities happening in your area. These events will appear in the LIST section of the Discover feature. You can also use this feature to explore your area and see nearby parks and outdoor activities. Through the MAP section, we will even help you get there. Click on the green tree marking the park or outdoor activity of interest, and then click GO to get directions. Make sure to wear a mask anytime you get active in a group or visit a local park.

5. High fives all around

The Community Challenge is all about connection and encouragement. Click on Community on the menu at the bottom of the home screen. There, you can see what all your fellow challengers are up to – you might even find a new workout or recipe to try! And be sure to show your support by giving out high fives to other challengers in the community feed. It’s as easy as hitting “like”!

6. Weekly mini challenges = more chances to win!

New this year: more ways to win! Each week there will be a new Mini-Challenge available in the app. A Mini-Challenge is made up of a specific set of tasks to complete, like reporting 7 healthy activities. Once you complete the tasks in the weekly Mini-Challenge, you will be automatically entered for a chance to win a prize from It’s Time Texas. The requirements change every week, so make sure to check in weekly to see how you can win! You can find Mini-Challenges under the Challenges tab on the main screen of the app. To find out more about a specific week’s mini-challenge, click Mini-Challenge: Week X.  Likewise, to find out more details on that week’s Mini-Challenge, you can click on the Information tab in each Mini-Challenge leaderboard.

7. Take advantage of the freebies

Make sure to explore all the Community Challenge App has to offer. There’s a host of free resources accessible in the Menu tab (the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of home screen). There you will find information on free telehealth programs, free virtual exercise classes, how-to guides, and more.

8. Track your progress

Who doesn’t like to know how far they’ve come? Inside the Menu tab (the three horizontal lines at the top left corner of home screen), you’ll find MY REPORTED ACTIVITY. With one click, you will see a record of all the activities you’ve reported. For instance, you could check if you’ve increased your healthy activities each day or add a new goal like logging water consumption once per day.

9. Log in everyday

The more you open the app and report healthy activities, the more points you will earn! And earning points will help your team, employer, school or community go up the leaderboard. Plus, the more healthy activities you report will increase your weekly opportunity to win prizes. Each week, prizes will be given to the top points earners! Besides earning points, reporting at least one healthy action a day means you are taking smalls steps to bring healthy living into your 2021. And that’s what the Community Challenge is all about.
