Choose Healthier Coach Tip: Activities For Seniors!

senior

A: Yes! All adults can be physically active as long as you select the appropriate types and amounts of activity for your abilities. A good goal is at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity each week, in episodes of at least 10 minutes. Walking, dancing, swimming, water aerobics, jogging, aerobic exercise classes, bicycle riding, raking or pushing a lawn mower, tennis and golf (without a cart!) can all be great physical activities for seniors.

Many of the Austin Recreation Centers offer Senior Activity Programs or fitness facilities for free, and we can help you locate the best fits nearest you when you call! If you live in Central Texas and own a smartphone or tablet, the Choose Healthier mobile app will allow you to filter for activities just for seniors!
