ABOUT THE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Teach Healthier After School program offers top flight curriculum and instructors to schools that are eligible through ACE/21st Century grant funding or other fundings. Our instructors provide a healthy environment for children after school, where they participate in active games and learn about the importance of nutrition.
Instructors utilize the Teach Healthier Mobile App to provide nutrition and physical activity lessons through a smartphone or tablet.

INSTRUCTOR OF THE MONTH
We are happy to announce LIZA DOVGISH as our Instructor of the Month for THAS!
Liza teaches at Widen Elementary. She works with both kindergartners and first graders. She creates well-structured, enthusiastic, and enjoyable lesson plans for her students. Her use of attention getters and variations in games keep her young students interested and active. Liza enjoys working for THAS because she loves being able to motivate kids to be healthy. She knows that helping them create those healthy habits early in life will leave a lasting and meaningful impact on their future. “In the face of uncertainty for the future of our world”, she says, “these kids convince me that the world is going to be okay. Not only that, it’s going to be better.”
Liza is currently attending St. Edwards University. After college, she may end up teaching English to children in South Korea. She could also see herself editing novels at a publishing firm in New York City. No matter what she chooses, we’re sure Liza will be making a positive impact on other people’s lives.
Keep up the amazing work, Liza!
In the eight years we have been partnering with IT’S TIME TEXAS, I have been impressed with their commitment to providing high quality health, nutrition, and fitness activities to Austin ISD students and their families. Given that a large percentage of our youth are at risk for obesity or diabetes, the need for Teach Healthier After School programs is growing.Shirlene Justice, Former Austin ISD Program Director
